Actress Sonal Chauhan turns 37 today on May 16. Well, this model turned actress has done many roles, but she is still popular as a Jannat girl. Her role of Zoya in the movie Jannat gave her recognition in the industry, and then she signed three more movies with Mukesh Bhatt. Jannat was also produced under the banner of Mukesh Bhatt alongside Emraan Hashmi as the lead of the film. Sonal marked her debut with this film, which she did with an actor who was tagged as a serial kisser. But for Sonal, it was never her first thought when the film was offered to her. In an exclusive interview with Lehren, she shared her experience of working with Emraan.
When she was asked about whether she thought about what steamy scenes she would have with Emraan, she replied, “Well, honestly, when the film was offered to her, I didn’t think about steamy scenes or kissing scenes. My main concern was to know what the script is like and how my role is.” And it was the script which made Sonal sign this movie. “The moment I heard the script I was convinced,” she added.
Sonal shed some light on the steamy, intimate scenes. She said that she wasn’t really getting what the media were talking about the steamy scenes. She disclosed, “Jo promos mein dikhaya ja raha hai (whatever has been shown in the promo) it’s not a steamy scene. It’s just a build up to the love-making, there is no love-making scene in the film.” She advised people to go watch the movie and decide for themselves about the steamy connection with Emraan. The actress outlined her experience of working with Emraan and called him “thoroughly professional”. He never treated her like a newcomer. Sonal stated, “I felt very very comfortable on the set. And always, it was like a one happy family. It was a lot of fun.”
Jannat was released in 2008 and was the first Indian movie to premiere in Pakistan. A movie which was a mixture of Cricket in India and a love story was a super hit at the box office.
