BJP leader Subramanian Swamy seeks to arrest Akshay Kumar and sue Ram Setu

Akshay Kumar is on a movie spree with a number of upcoming films in his kitty. After Samrat Prithviraj, a major flop at the box office, he is gearing up for Raksha Bandhan to be released on 11th August. While his films such as Selfiee, Capsule Gill, Mission Cindrella, Soorarai Pottru remake and Ram Setu are in making, one of his films landed in trouble. A BJP Member is against Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film Ram Setu.

Akshay Kumar got involved in another controversy after Samrat Prithviraj which was ought to be banned. A BJP member Subramanian Swamy filed a lawsuit against Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film ‘Ram Setu’. He is seeking compensation ‘for damages caused by falsification in portrayal of the Ram Setu issue in their film’. The leader is seeking to sue the film team for falsely portraying the issue of Ram Setu.

Earlier this month Subramanian Swamy tagged Karma Media who is producing a film on the mythological bridge. He wrote, “Contact us: Are you stealing the Ram Setu case as yours by morphing the Supreme Court Order that I got?” With this tweet it appears that Swamy was not contacted before making the film and now he wants to sue Karma Media and Akshay Kumar.

In a series of recent tweets, Swamy wrote: “The suit for compensation has been finalised by my associate Satya Sabharwal Adv. I am suing Akshay Kumar, actor & Karma Media for damages cause by falsification in portrayal of the Ram Setu issue in their film for release.” In another tweet, he wrote: “If Actor Akshay Kumar is a foreign citizen then we can ask he be arrested and evicted his adopted country.”

Makers did use Subramanian’s SC order as a poster of the film confirmed advocate Satya Sabharwal. He brought it to notice through Twitter, he wrote “A film based on Ram Setu has been produced by Karma Media, where Dr. Swamy’s SC Order has been used as a Poster. Will be filing a Suit.”

Ram Setu is an action-adventure film based on an archaeologist investigating whether Ram Setu is a myth or reality. It is directed by Abhishek Sharma and co-produced by Cape of Good Films along with Amazon Prime Video, Abundantia Entertainment, and Lyca Productions. While another film created on the same subject is directed by Vishal Chaturvedi and produced by Shailesh R Singh under Karma Media banners.

Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu also stars  Jacqueline Fernandez, Nushratt Bharuccha, and Satya Dev in leading roles. The film is set to hit theaters on October 24, 2022.
