Work On Akshay Kumar’s ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ Began 18 Years Ago?

In the latest Instagram post, Akshay Kumar reveals that the work on his film 'Samrat Prithviraj' began 18 years ago.

After several delays and numerous controversies, the historical war film ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ has finally hit the theatres today. The magnum opus by Yash Raj Films features Akshay Kumar, Manushi Chhillar, Sanjay Dutt, Ashutosh Rana and Sonu Sood in pivotal roles. The film has been in the headlines since 2019 and more so because it marks the Bollywood debut of Miss World 2017, Manushi Chhillar. The primary reason behind the film’s delay was the Covid-19 lockdown. Moreover, the makers also worked on the film’s VFX for two years. But did you know that the preliminary work on this film began 18 years ago?

Well, as the film has been released in theatres, Akshay Kumar took to his social media and revealed that the work on today’s release began in 2004. Sharing a picture of himself with Manushi Chhillar, he wrote, “18 years of research, 2 years of VFX and 3 Covid-19 waves later…this day is finally here. It’s time to go to a big screen near you, #SamratPrithviraj IN CINEMAS NOW!”

When a film is based on historical events, thorough research is required because one wrong fact can tarnish everyone’s image who’s involved with the project. With this latest revelation by Akshay Kumar, it seems that the makers have left no stone unturned to bring a true picture of said events.

‘Samrat Prithviraj’ is about the life of Prithviraj Chauhan. The film is directed by Chandra Prakash Dwivedi.
