Sparking proposals for the International Cricket Council (ICC) to include reserve days in future events, India reached a maiden Women’s Twenty20 World Cup final on Thursday after their last four matches against England were washed out. The undefeated side of Harmanpreet Kaur was due to face the Sydney Cricket Ground 2009 winners, but the rain started to pour early in the day with hardly any let-up.

Without a bowl being bowled the Umpires called it off as both the sides needed a minimum of 10 overs for a result but the rains didn’t show any signs to stop. In other games, normally five overs per side are needed to constitute a T20 match but the rules are different for ICC tournaments.

Team Australia will take on the Proteas Women Team later in the second sem-final. For the unversed, Australia is a four-time champion. But even the second semi-final is under threat because of the weather.

With no reserve day, the highest-ranked teams from the two groups move into the final if the play is not possible.

If the weather God’s don’t play their role, India will face South Africa in the finals on Sunday that is 8th March.

Talking about India’s Women Cricket Team, the entire team played well but the player that became the star of the tournament is Shafali Verma. The teenage sensation reached the top of the ICC T20 Women’s Ranking because of her fiery knocks.

Ranking fourth in the World, India had made into three semi-finals before and lost every time including the one against England during the last T20 World Cup.
