Women’s Day: A Treat Of Bollywood’s Women-Centric Movies

This International Women's Day, watch the amazing movies of Bollywood's superwomen. There is a lot more stuff generating towards females in Bollywood nowadays.

Changing dynamics of the film industry has opened the scope of films. The subjects are varied and filmmakers are adapting them. Earlier, the entire subject of a movie used to revolve around a male lead. But in the last few years there have been many films made which were women-centric, like “Mardaani”, “Gangubai Kathiawadi”, “Neerja”, “English Vinglish” and many others. Now there are many movies which are dominated by female actors. This International Women’s Day, you must enjoy movies where actresses have just owned the screen with their beauty and brain. Here are a few suggestions for last year’s treasure. 

1) Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway 

This film, released in March 2023, is based on a real incident. Rani Mukherjee starrer this movie depicts the story of a mother who fights against the Norwegian government, who takes her children away from her, citing the reason that she is not raising her children in the correct manner. But the whole case arises due to the cultural differences and ways of parenting in both countries. Rani played the really intense character of a mother who is emotional but strong enough to fight for her children. 

2) Tarla

Huma Qureshi starrer Tarla movie is a biopic of Tarla Dalal who is a famous chef and food writer. Today, cooking is not really a job of any specific gender, but earlier, it used to be women’s duty. This story is about how Tarla encouraged and empowered women through her cooking profession. This movie was released in July last year. 

3) Mrs. Undercover

This is a movie which tells the story of a housewife in quite a different way. Radhika Apte played the lead role in the movie, who is a homemaker but also an undercover agent who has been assigned with a task to find a serial killer. This serial killer kills all the ambitious and career-oriented women in society. A thriller with a humorous touch will not fail to entertain you. 

4) Dhak Dhak 

Dhak Dhak, released on October 13, 2023, is a story of 4 women from different age groups who are stuck in their own life problems. But these four ladies want to travel to Ladakh by bike. Somehow, they manage and go on a bike tour, but then what comes next in their way? Ratna Pathak Shah, Dia Mirza, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanjana Sanghi created a crazy on-screen atmosphere in the film. 

Apart from this, Bhumi Pednekar’s “Bhakshak” released  in February 2024 will define the strength of women. Another movie will be released soon starring Tabu, Kareena Kapoor and Kriti Sanon named “Crew” is also another fun women have on-screen.
