The actor’s family has confirmed the news in a statement, saying it is with great sadness that we report that our beloved Treat Williams has passed away tonight in Dorset, Vermont, after a fatal motorcycle accident. As you can imagine, we are shocked and greatly bereaved at this time. The statement adds, Treat was full of love for his family, for his life, and for his craft, and he was truly at the top of his game in all of it. The family was also asked for the privacy.

William started his career in 1975 with his first film appearance in the thriller “Deadly Hero.” He played several roles in movies like “The Ritz and The Eagle Has Landed in 1976. He achieved recognition for his performance in the 1979 film adaptation of the musical Hair and his role in the television series Everwood.

William is survived by his wife, Pam, and their two children.
