Star Wars actor Andrew Jack passes away from the coronavirus in Britain, his manager said on Wednesday. He was 76 years old.
The actor, who was also employed as a dialect instructor, died Tuesday at a Surrey hospital, Jack’s manager Jill McCullough said in a statement.
McCullough said, “Andrew lived on one of the oldest workings houseboats on the Thames, he was fiercely independent but madly in love with his wife, also a dialect coach.”
Jack starred as General Ematt in “Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi,” as well as in “Solo: A Star Wars Story” and “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens.”
His wife, Gabrielle Rogers, who is quarantined in Australia, wrote on social media: “Andrew Jack was diagnosed with coronavirus 2 days ago. He was in no pain, and he slipped away peacefully knowing that his family were all ‘with’ him.”
The coronavirus causes mild to moderate symptoms for most people, such as fever and cough which will clear up in two to three weeks. It may cause more serious illness for others, particularly older adults and those with existing health issues, including pneumonia and death.
