Remembering The Legend: Shashi Kapoor’s Berlin Adventure For Actress Leslie CaronĀ

In 1961, Shashi Kapoor and brother Shammi Kapoor were invited to the Berlin Film Festival. It was the fortune of Shashi Kapoor that Leslie Caron was also attending the Berlin Film Festival. And there he asked Leslie for dance, read what she answered.

Shashi Kapoor, a Bollywood actor who made people fall for him with just his presence, had many Bollywood hits. He is famous for his movies like Deewar, Shaan, Junoon, and many more. Itā€™s been six years since this actor passed away. During his era, this actor made many headlines with his blockbuster movies, his love life, his directorial role, and many other things. But this great Bollywood actor had his own fan moment in Berlin. Though there was a large chunk of people following him, he was a great fan of French actress Leslie Caron.

Leslie Caron starred in the 1951 movie ā€˜An American in Paris’, and Shashi Kapoor was deeply in love with her. Her grace, acting, and dancing were indeed beautiful. In 1961, Shashi Kapoor and brother Shammi Kapoor were invited to the Berlin Film Festival. It was the fortune of Shashi Kapoor that Leslie Caron was also attending the Berlin Film Festival. On the ball night, Shashi Kapoor decided to dance with Leslie Caron by hook or crook.

He stood up and went up to Leslie Caron and told her that he was from India, that he was an actor, and that he was working in films. Ahead, he told her that he appreciated her movie, An American in Paris. He liked her style and said that he wanted to dance with her. And the actress simply said yes; she stood up, and then there were they, dancing on the floor.

Shashi Kapoor did what he said; he simply lived his fan moment with Leslie Caron. His brother and actor, Shammi Kapoor, witnessed this moment and called it “mission accomplished.”

But he was married to Jennifer Kendal, and he was loyal to her. His love for his wife was so generous, but he always kept it personal, and after her death, he also avoided sharing any memories of her with the media.

This actor died on December 4, 2017 due to liver cirrhosis at the age of 79.
