Shaquille O’Neal Undergoes Hip Surgery, Assures Fans “No Need To Worry”

Shaquille O’Neal recently made headlines when he uploaded a photo of him on a hospital bed, scroll down below to find out more about the incident.

The 51 years old retired basketball player sparked concerns among fans on social media after he posted a picture of himself on a hospital bed with an IV attached to his arm, the picture was posted on 19th March and it quickly made headlines which led to Shaq responding again with clarification.

During an announcement on the NCAA tournament broadcast on Sunday, 19th March, Ernie Hohbson from TNT said that the retired basketball player has undergone surgery during the weekend. Shaq also confirmed on Twitter about his procedure on March 20, 2023,  ‘Just Got Some BBL Work.’

Shaq, always quick with his comedic responses, went on social media and uploaded an old picture of him in a lakers jersey with his rear on full display. The video was edited to show a blurred version of his rear while Adele’s “Hello” was playing over the picture.

Shaq reassured fans with his tweet, “To all the people who are worried and concerned. first off, let me say thank you,” he further added, “And lastly no need to worry, just had to get some BBL WORK AKA #hipreplacement Thanks and love you all. but no need to worry and yes I’m fine.”

The athlete tagged two of his TNT co-host, Ernie Johnson and Candice Parker in the picture saying, “always watching” he further added, “Miss y’all.”

As per the reports from Entertainment Tonight, Shaq wanted to lose at least 60 pounds by his 51st birthday.

“I lost 40 pounds,” Shaq said. “I need to lose about 20 more, but impressive. Imma gets real chiseled up and do an underwear ad with my sons.”

The athlete wanted to cut some weight, he said he didn’t care what he was eating during his playing days, but now as he is growing older he pays close attention to his diet avoiding consuming soda and bread, and he is taking shakes and supplements with a balanced diet. He told ET, “The weight just fell off. I’m not at 100 percent ninja mode yet. I’m still 75 percent.”
