Shakti Kapoor Confesses He Begged His Wife To Not Work & Remain A Housewife

Shakti Kapoor's recent statement may sound patriarchal as he admits he made his wife quit her acting career to become a full-time homemaker.

Shakti Kapoor, the name synonymous with Bollywood villains, has been captivating audiences for decades with his impeccable acting skills. This seasoned actor, who made his debut in 1975 with “Do Jasoos,” has left an indelible mark on the Indian film industry. Known for his iconic roles in movies like “Raja Babu,” “Andaz Apna Apna,” “Gunda,” “Qurbani,” “Karma Indian,” “Khuddar,” and “Baap Numbri Beta Dus Numbri,” Shakti Kapoor’s on-screen presence is nothing short of legendary.

However, it’s not just his acting prowess that’s grabbing headlines lately. Shakti Kapoor recently made a candid appearance on the popular podcast show, “Timeout with Ankit,” where he shared intimate details about his personal life and his wife, Shivangi Kolhapure.

In a heartfelt conversation, Kapoor disclosed that he had actively discouraged his wife, Shivangi Kolhapure, from pursuing a career in films. Their love story began on a movie set, but Kapoor was so smitten that he feared their professional commitments might impact their relationship. “Shivangi was a homely girl, and that’s how we started seeing each other,” he confessed.

As Shivangi, a child artist who made her debut in “Yaadon Ki Baaraat” in 1973, started receiving film offers, Kapoor’s concerns grew. He admitted to pleading with her not to accept these opportunities, wishing for her to be a housewife. Kapoor considers Shivangi his lucky charm, as they tied the knot during the peak of his career. He’s forever grateful for her selfless sacrifice, which allowed him to focus on his craft.

Their love story, however, faced obstacles. Shakti Kapoor and Shivangi Kolhapure eloped in 1982, against their parents’ wishes due to cultural differences. Kapoor’s on-screen villainous persona had made people question his real-life character, adding another layer of complexity to their union.

Today, the couple has two talented children, Siddhant Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, both successful actors in their own right.
