After a scene from his new film made a slur on social media, Prithviraj and makers have finally reacted to the controversy! Read to know more!

Days after its release, Prithviraj’s thriller movie ‘Kaduva’ has been making headlines, not for a good reason though! Right after its release, the film garnered lots of controversies, finally urging the makers and the actor of the film, Prithviraj, to release a public apology. For the unversed, it was one of the scenes from the film that made some audiences furious. In the scene, protagonist Prithviraj can be making distasteful comments to the specially-abled people and their parents.

This stirred a backlash on social media among viewers who watched the film, so much so, that an NGO, Parivaar, had moved the State Commission for Persons with Disabilities. This urged filmmaker Kailasa and producers Supriya Menon and Listin Stephen to write an apology stating, “I tender a heartfelt apology for the remarks that hurt the parents of differently-abled children in the movie Kaduva, directed by me. That dialogue in the movie was a mistake. I would request everyone to forgive me as it was a human error. Neither did scriptwriter Jinu who penned the dialogue, nor did actor Prithviraj, nor I, who shot the scene, realised its possible connotations,” they remarked.

Since the dialogue from the film created an outrage on social media, with fans cancelling out the film, maker Kailasa also posted an apology on his Facebook handle saying, “Sorry. It was a mistake. We acknowledge and accept it.” Meanwhile, the makers are also said to consider editing that specific scene that slurred the controversy.
For the unversed, Prithviraj Sukumar, who’s not only an exceptional actor, is also a producer, and director and also has given his vocals in Kaduva. The film, however, caught up other controversies as well before its release, as it was charged with plagiarism. Although, after moving the charge to the courts, the judgment was passed on the maker’s side, giving the film clearance.

Talking about the same Sukumar added, “They have taken it to court and the court has favoured our writer and we have got clearance as well. I am unaware of what happened between them. Also, I have no idea if Kaduva is inspired by a true story. The writer of our film hails from Pathanamthitta, which is close to Pala. I am assuming that every writer who writes a film will be inspired by his surroundings. Kaduva, set in the ’90s, tells the story of a young planter from Pala, and to my knowledge, this is a fictional story.”
