Naga Chaitanya Actively Rejected Bollywood Movies For This Reason

Naga Chaitanya, who will appear in Laal Singh Chaddha, opened up on what made him so long to make his Bollywood debut

Naga Chaitanya who comes from a filmy family is a prominent Telugu superstar. He has helped Indian Cinema with some of his great films down in the south. His work is appreciated across the country but he has never featured in Hindi Films. Nevertheless, the time has come when he will make a Bollywood debut. The Love Story actor revealed why he never stepped into Hindi cinema.

Naga Chaitanya is making a Bollywood debut with Laal Singh Chaddha. Having a successful career down in the South and being recognized across India he never appeared in Hindi movies. We may speculate that the right time and right project didn’t come however, the actual reason is different. During an interview with Hindustan Times, Naga Chaitanya revealed his reason for not doing a Bollywood film in 13 years of his career.

Chay, what fans call him, was actively rejecting or shying away from Hindi films for some time now. He said: “I grew up in Chennai and shifted to Hyderabad. So, my Hindi has not been the best. I have been sort of insecure about that for a very long time. That’s the reason why I have shied away sometimes from Hindi films when I have gotten an offer. In fact, when I told people that my Hindi is very ‘South Indian’, people have thought twice to be honest.”

Akkineni is now set for his first Hindi film, hence asked what made him do Laal Singh Chaddha, he replied: “When I got the offer for Laal Singh Chaddha, I gave them the same ‘disclaimer’. Aamir sir was totally comfortable with that because I am being cast as a South Indian boy who goes up north and that’s where our journey begins. They wanted me to be South Indian in the way I speak. I do speak Hindi in the film but if I slip in a Telugu word or adopt a Telugu accent, they were totally fine with that. In fact, we incorporated a few words here and there to bring in a Telugu flavour.”

Naga will play the role of Bala in Laal Singh Chaddha which is an official Hindi remake of the Hollywood movie Forrest Gump. The drama-comedy movie also stars Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, and Mona Singh in pivotal roles. Directed by Advait Chandan and produced by Aamir Khan Productions, Viacom 18, and Paramount Pictures. It is scheduled for a theatrical release on 11th August.
