As per early reports, the Malayalam superstar is essaying a small but significant role in Nelson Dilipkumar's action entertainer whose shoot is going at brisk pace in Chennai.

Earlier there were reports that Malayalam superstar Mohanlal who is also fondly called Lalatten by his die- heart fans, is going to be part of Rajinikanth’s upcoming Tamil action entertainer Jailer.

Now the makers have made it official by sharing the first look of the actor on their official twitter handle. On January 8, film’s production house Sun Pictures took to twitter to drop the first look of Mohanlal from the upcoming Tamil action thriller.

The 62 year old actor looks dapper in a simple leopard printed shirt with long hair. Although there has been no official confirmation with regards to his character in the film, according to some early reports, the Malayalam superstar is essaying a small but significant role in Nelson Dilipkumar’s action entertainer, whose shoot is going at brisk pace in Chennai.

Although, Rajinikanth has worked with Malayalam superstar and Mohanlal’s counterpart Mammooty in Mani Ratnam’s Tamil gangster dramaThalapathy (1992), Jailer is going to be the first time these two superstars from respective regional film industries will appear on big screen together.

The action entertainer has been in the news since the makers released the first teaser of the film unveiling Rajinikanth’s character.

Although makers have kept the details of the film’s plot under wraps, as the title suggests, the actor will be seen essaying the role of a jailer Muthuvel Pandian.

Along with Mohanlal and Rajinikanth, Jailer also stars Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar who is essaying the lead antagonist and Yogi Babu, Ramya Krishna,  Vasanth Ravi, and Vinayakan.

Jailer marks the first collaboration between Rajinikanth and Nelson, whose previous directorial venture Beast (2022) failed to create a huge impact on the box office. For Rajinikanth this will be first big screen release after Annaatthe (2021).

Meanwhile, Drishyam 2 actor Mohanlal is awaiting the release of his single artist film Alone, which marks his reunion with senior filmmaker Shaji Kailas after a long gap. Last week makers unveiled the trailer of this unique project which has garnered praise all over the internet.
