Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the entertainment industry has come to a screeching halt since March. The shooting of many films has been stopped and the release date of many big ventures has been pushed further due to the lockdown norms. A couple of days ago, the makers of Akshay Kumar starrer Prithviraj Chauhan Biopic revealed that they are planning to pull down the sets of the movie as the monsoons will begin soon.

Meanwhile, the news is out that the makers of Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan have followed the suit. A gigantic 16-acre football ground field had been constructed for the shooting of the sports-drama. However, the set remains unused since the lockdown got imposed which has prevented Bollywood from filming its other projects as well. With there being no certainty on when filming will resume, the makers of Maidaan have opted to dismantle the set.

The news has been confirmed and there mainly two reasons behind dismantling the humongous set. The first reason is that the cost of maintaining the set was pinching the pockets of the makers. It is speculated that the maintenance of the set would cost between Rs. 5 crores to Rs. 50 crores, all depending on the size of the set. The second reason is the monsoon; Mumbai will experience rainfall in the coming days which would adversely impact the sets.

While the makers have the option of taking their film to an international location to film the remaining schedule, a source close to the production has revealed that it could be difficult for producers to fly the cast out of Mumbai to wrap film. It said, “Our film is a sports film with many actors and a huge team. How will we take out 500 people now, and shoot? It’s very difficult. We plan to erect the sets again around September-October and start the shoot possibly in November. We still have about 30 days’ shoot left on the film.”

The film is slated to release on December 11, 2020, but we can expect a delay in the release pertaining to the current situation.
