Lorenzo Pellegrini gets hit by a coin thrown by a fan & is left bloodied

Roma's midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini gets struck by a coin aimed by a fan of the Istanbul Basaksehir fans during Europa League clash against Istanbul Basaksehir. Pellegrini was left bloodied after the incident. Read on to know more.

Roma’s star and midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini was hit on the head with a coin that was thrown by an Istanbul Basaksehir supporters during Roma’s clash against Istanbul Basaksehir. Blood streamed down the midfielder’s forehead and was then forced to get treated on the sidelines and got his head wrapped in a bandage.

Pellegrini was then substituted as Roma stood firmly in control of the game after the terrible incident. During the first half, Jordan Veretout, Justin Kluivert, and Edin Dzeko were seen scoring goals, while edging Paulo Fonseca’s side further to qualification from Group J.

Fellow Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara was the first one to spot his teammate Pellegrini had been hit. Soon referee Ovidiu Hategan chose to briefly suspend the clash, that made Pellegrini receive treatment. There was also a message read out over the stadium’s tannoy before the match resumed.  And after the brief pause, he was once again introduced back into the game.

Pellegrini had initially joined Roma when he was only nine and made his senior debut in 2015n a Serie A clash against Cesena. He then recorded two assists in the match against Turkey and hence this bolstered his impressive statistics in the current campaign.
