Kiara Advani Acknowledges Kabir Singh’s Controversy: ‘We Need To Accept That There Are All Sorts Of People’

Kiara Advani, the talented Bollywood actress, recently shared her perspective on the controversial film “Kabir Singh” (2019) and the character she portrayed in the movie, Preeti. In an interview with Femina, Kiara candidly discussed her role in the film, which she referred to as “possibly her most infamous role ever.”

Kiara recognized that while some viewers found “Kabir Singh” to be unpalatable and toxic, it succeeded in drawing attention to the complexities of unhealthy relationships. She expressed her view that it’s essential not to view characters in black and white terms or pass judgment on the roles she plays.

“I have never played a character I didn’t like,” Kiara stated firmly, adding, “If I don’t like my character, I better not be doing the movie. We need to accept that there are all sorts of people. We can’t cancel everyone.” Kiara emphasized the importance of promoting open conversations, suggesting that the controversy surrounding “Kabir Singh” should serve as a starting point for discussion.

Regarding the film’s impact, Kiara noted, “If Kabir Singh didn’t start a conversation, that would be problematic. But it did, and that’s a great thing. What we can do is grow from it. That is what matters.”

“Kabir Singh” was a Hindi remake of the Telugu film “Arjun Reddy,” originally portrayed by Vijay Devarakonda. Both films were directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. While “Kabir Singh” enjoyed considerable success at the box office, it also garnered mixed to negative reviews from audiences and critics due to its portrayal of the tumultuous relationship between Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir and Kiara’s Preeti. The film’s controversial nature sparked discussions about its depiction of love and relationships, making it a topic of interest and scrutiny in the film industry.
