Kesariya Was Reshot After Karan Johar’s Disapproval, Ayan Mukerji Shared Original Kesariya Dance Mix Teaser

Karan Johar made Ayan Mukerji reshoot Kesariya song from Brahmastra, weeks after the movie's release the director shared the original version

Ever since the teaser of Kesariya was launched it had piqued the curiosity of fans to listen to the full song later it ruled the Instagram reel section. The track was much talked about amongst the audience, while it was highly loved by fans it was massively trolled too. Weeks after the release of the much-awaited film Brahmastra we learned that Kesariya song shown in the movie is not original rather it was revamped after Karan Johar asked Ayan Mukerji to reshoot it.

Director Ayan Mukerji and producer Karan Johar attended FICCI Frames 2022 where the two revealed the song was reshot. Ayan said, said, “There was stuff which Karan did not like. There was a big Kaali Puja sequence in the film. When you (Karan) saw the sequence, you were very harsh. He really bit**** about it. I hope I am allowed to say that word.”

Karan disagreed with his statement saying, “I never did that. I said that the scene was very terrible, and I said I think you need to re-shoot it. And there was actually, and we can say it now, Kesariya was shot in another way. Kesariya’ was shot with Ranbir dancing quite feverishly. When we saw the song, I said ‘What the hell is going on? What is wrong with you Ayan? Why were they dancing?’ Kesariya was shot differently. Same tune and melody but treated differently. It is then that Ayan realised it must be treated differently”

So, the version of Kesariya we see is improvised and better than the previous one as per Karan Johar. However, the director Ayan Mukerji dropped the teaser of Kesariya dance mix which was originally supposed to be in Brahmastra instead of the romantic love anthem. The original Kesariya is a dancier and groovier track.

Ayan Mukerji shared the teaser of Kesariya dance remix on his official Instagram account. He captioned the post,  “So…Before Kesariya became the song we all know and love today, it was… this! A dancier groovier version of the song! As you can now see, we even shot it. Then I realised that the film needed a more romantic version of the song, the true version of Kesariya was created, I pleaded and convinced everyone to reshoot it.”

He further added, “I thought we would never show anyone this earlier version of Kesariya. But now – our film has done really well, the festive season is upon us, and while this version of the song wasn’t right for the film… it’s still great fun and we all love it! So we’re thinking of having some fun, and releasing it this weekend with the video we shot! (Shall we?!!!) Let’s call it Kesariya Dance Mix!”

Kesariya referred to as the Love Anthem of the year is a work of prominent artists. It has been voiced by phenomenal Arjit Singh, composed by legendary Pritam Da, and penned by talented Amitabh Bhattacharya. Putting the cherry on top of this magnificent team, it has been choreographed by none other than Ganesh Acharya.
