One of the versatile actors in the film industry, Kamal Haasan is celebrating his 69th birthday today. He has performed a variety of roles not in films but in the entire film industry, from writer, and director to actor. Everyone knows Raaj Kamal Films International belongs to him. But apart from this production house, many of us recognize him for the film ‘Chachi 420’
Kamal Haasan directed Chachi 420 and he also played a lead character in that film. The journey of Jaiprakash Paswan to Shrimati Durgabai Goabole is fun to watch. Kamal Haasan made that transition so smoothly that it gets difficult to recognize whether that lady character Durgabai Goabole is him only. Directing the film, co-writing it, producing it, and playing a major lead in male and female characters is not at all easy, only a legend can do this extraordinary thing and he proved that he is capable of handling everything without compromising on the quality of that product.
Sharing his experience of the movie during the production process, he said, “I have been prepared for this role for the last 25 years. I have learnt Bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi. I played a woman’s part on stage as an emergency and it got hit so I continued playing it for a month till that lady got back to the stage. I used to perform Lavani (Maharashtrian Folk Dance) on stage. So all these things helped me prepare for this film.”
Adding more to this he said, “The basic inspiration for this comes from my Guru, T. K. Shanmugam. The original Tamil version of this film was named by him. I have seen him perform Lady on stage when I was a kid. And being his student, I think I should emulate him.”
His 25 years of life where he adopted, learned, and experienced the lady character and also the motivation behind this film T. K. Shanmugam, these all things helped him groom Shrimati Durgabai Godbole in Chachi 420.
Kamal Haasan was seen recently in the movie Vikram in year 2022 and his upcoming film Thug Life will be released soon. Its title announcement video was out yesterday and received tremendous popularity since then.
