On Thursday, coach Justin Langer said that team Australia must tour England in the month of September “for the health of world cricket”. Langer further added that the players later should be released to join the Indian Premier League (IPL). Despite the COVID-19 scare, Langer said that Australia had to play its part in getting cricket activities moving again, even when faced by the challenges of quarantine, biosecurity restrictions, and time away from family.
In a recent interaction with News Corp Australia, Langer said, “My personal view is we have to go. For so many reasons.” He further added, “I think we have to go to England. There are lots of challenges of course but we have to find solutions to make sure that can happen if possible.” That’s my view.”
He then concluded by saying, “I think for the health of world cricket. As much as we’d like India to come over here, I think we need to reciprocate that with England if we can.”
Team Australia’s ODI series against England scheduled for this month was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, and instead, September has been raised as an alternative.

Cricket Australia had to lay off 15% of its staff because of the pandemic, hence they are looking forward to hosting a money-spinning Test series against India later this year.
During the interaction, Langer also believed that releasing Australia’s big names to join the IPL will also be necessary as a goodwill gesture to make sure that India goes ahead with their Test tour.
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, international cricket came to a sudden halt in the month of March. It resumed yesterday with England hosting the West Indies for the three-match Test series.
