The entertainment industry had come to a screeching halt due to the lockdown order in March. Since then the shooting of many projects was called-off or postponed because of which the release dates of several films were also pushed further. Recently, the government of Maharashtra granted permission to the film industry to resume shootings from June 15 following set guidelines laid the State.

However, the Indian Motion Pictures Producer’s Association (IMPPA) has written a letter to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray, saying that the guidelines are impractical. They raised some points from the issued guidelines, which were earlier raised by the Indian Film and TV Directors Association (IFTDA).

They said that having nurses and doctors on every set is impossible and that barring actors and technicians above the age of 65 is impractical. IMPPA secretary Anil Nagrath said that many celebs are over the age of 65. He also agreed that bringing elderly people on set is risky, but they will take more precautions while shooting with them. And they will also shoot for only four hours instead of 8 hours. He mentioned that the elderly people on the set will be kept secluded.  The association was of the opinion that the presence of a medical team onset is a waste of precious resources in these pressing times.

The Government has stated that members of the crew should be located in a hotel so that they do not end up infecting their family. The association said this cannot be enforced as most hotels have been taken over as quarantine centers by the government. They also said that their suggestion of casting family members of actors in the supporting roles [to restrict contact with others] is impractical.
