This much talked about series since the time it got announced on social media by the director himself has been talk of the town and also successfully created a lot of curiosity and also increased the intrigue level around what exactly can the netizens and audiences expect from the storyline of the series and multiplying this excitement of the fans to another level altogether, the film aficionados and fans who have loved his cinematic masterpieces like Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat, can get more happy since Sanjay Leela Bhansali helms first episode of Heera Mandi.

The nuanced and one of bollywood’s finest stalwart film makers Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been brought on board to direct the first pilot episode of his highly anticipated series Heera Mandi.
This magnum opus and much talked about digital project has an ensemble star cast of Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi in leading roles was initially only going to be produced by him as he currently had his plate full with the post production work of Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi and now according to recent news reports by a leading digital entertainment portal, whilst the first main episode is going to be directed by Sanjay himself, the rest of the episodes are going to be helmed by Vibhu Puri.
A source in his recent quote to the said leading digital entertainment portal revealed, “Heera Mandi is Bhansali’s dream project for 12 years now. The only reason he is not helming it officially is because he is busy with the post-production of his directorial project Gangubai Kathiawadi”.
Whilst currently the casting of this project is underway at the moment, we think that his team felt that he himself should take charge of this project. This is going to be a seven episodic series, in which Sanjay would be directing the first episode, and then would be supervising rest of the episodes that are going to be helmed by Vibhu Puri.
The source also adds, “There are seven episodes in Heera Mandi. Bhansali will now direct the first episode. The rest of the six episodes will be directed by Vibhu Puri while Bhansali will supervise the project”.
Hence its confirmed here that in this way, Heera Mandi will definitely benefit from the thespian film maker’s touch and attention to minute detailing in each and every frame.
Earlier, originally not supposed to don the director’s hat for any of the episodes, it had been brought to the director’s chair much later.
Also here, another important update is that apart from Huma and Sonakshi, there are speculations that maybe Nimrat Kaur, Sayani Gupta and Manisha Koirala are also going to be seen in the web series essaying key pivotal roles. As per reports in the media, it will be shot on sets of Gangubai Kathiawadi by modifying them a bit.
