Bollywood Filmmakers Have Filed A Lawsuit Against Republic TV, Arnab Goswami & Times Now

Four leading production companies of the Bollywood industry and 34 producers have filed a lawsuit against Republic TV host Arnab Goswami, Times Now, and others, at the Delhi High Court.

According to the reports the lawsuit against Republic TV, Arnab Goswami, Pradeep Bhandari, Times Now, Rahul Shivshankar, and Navika Kumar seeks to refrain from making “irresponsible, derogatory and defamatory remarks against Bollywood as a whole” and Bollywood members on TV channels.

The lawsuit also aimed to refrain from “conducting media trials” of Bollywood actors on the news channels.

The suit has been filed as the news channels run stories and TV debates about a “drug mafia” in Bollywood by both big news channels Times Now and Republic TV.

This comes after the constant reporting of the death case of Sushant Singh Rajput, where Bollywood was repeatedly alleged to have killed him.

Breaching the privacy of celebrities the news channels also read alleged WhatsApp chats on a daily basis and reported that they all consume drugs and hunt for cocaine.

Besides this Rajya Sabha MP and actor Jaya Bachchan had earlier made a speech in Parliament condemning the vilification of movie stars.

″Entertainment industry in our country which provides direct employment every day to 5 lakh people and indirect employment to 5 million people.

She further said, At a time when the financial situation is in a depressing state, and employment is at the worst level, in order to divert attention of the people, we are being used to be flogged by the social media and the government’s non support,” Bachchan had said that time.
