2018 comedy-drama film starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra was well-received by fans and critics. Be it the comic timing of the actors or the unique concept, the film stood out from the rest of the films that year. On completion of 2 years of this commercially successful film, the makers have announced its sequel along with the cast.
Even though Ayushmann Khurrana will not be a part of the sequel, but we are super excited for the new cast. The makers have signed Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar as lead actors. They have also given a twist to the title of the film. It is called Badhaai Do. The shooting of the film will begin in January 2021.
Rajkummar Rao posted a picture with Bhumi as he made the official announcement. He wrote in the caption, “Toh date pakki? Haath milao Bhumi Pednekar (sanitiser laga ke), 2021 ki shuruat badhaiyon ke sath. Badhaai Do.”
The sequel will be directed by Harshavardhan Kulkarni and it will be produced by Junglee Pictures.
The first installment of the film showcased the story of a middle-aged couple played by Gajraj Rao and Neena Gupta, who struggle with an unexpected case of pregnancy. Ayushmann Khurrana featured as their son while Sanya Malhotra played Ayushmann’s love interest.
The second installment featuring Rajkummar Rao will have a different storyline. Rao will play the role of a cop, while Bhumi Pednekar, will be seen playing the role of a PT teacher.
Well, now when we know the stellar cast of the film, we now can’t wait for the sequel to go on floors.
