Ayesha Jhulka Reacts To 90s Heroes Romancing Younger Women

Ayesha Jhulka opened up about her male co-stars still leading movies and romancing younger women

Ayesha Jhulka has now made a comeback to acting after a long hiatus. As a return to screens, she made a digital debut with Amazon Original series Hush Hush. Ayesha who has worked as female lead in many 90s movies opened up about her male co-stars still leading movies and romancing younger women.

She spoke about if the Hindi film industry is male-dominated as actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and more still play lovers boy while female actors of that time have been replaced. The actress asserted she has no problem with 90s male actors romancing younger women on screen.

Earlier, Madhuri Dixit had also shared her thoughts on the same subject line. According to her 90s female actor are evolving with time, playing empowered roles while her co-stars are still playing lovers boy characters.

Ayesha told Siddharth Kannan, “Pehli baat to ye abhi bhi 20 saal ke hi lag rahe hain sab, to wo credit to jaata hai (First thing is that all of them still look like they are 20, so credit goes there). If the viewers are not liking you, your films are not working, then how will you exist where my co-stars are today? Their films are becoming hits, they have evolved as actors, they have worked so hard. I am a witness to so many of them working so hard, and they should get the fruit of that labour.”

She further added, “Unfortunately in our industry, in those times, the shelf life for women actors was only this much. I don’t know why, I am not the one who made the rules so I can’t have the answer. You do feel bad because you do feel why. But I have no issue with the fact that they are romancing women in their 20s. Again, OTT is the silver lining for us.”

Earlier, Madhuri Dixit had said, “It is always the case na. Women mature more than men (laughs). You have to go to your higher intelligence and think about it. I cannot blame the heroes also because the kind of commercial films that are made, they need to do song, dance and all. So, they are always looking for something that keeps them young, which is not bad.”

Talking about Ayesha’s latest series Hush Hush, it is a murder mystery series that traces the lives of four very rich ladies, caught up in a murder plot. The seven episodic series stars Soha Ali Khan, Ayesha Jhulka, Juhi Chawla, and Kritika Kamra. It is streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 22 September 2022.
