Asha Parekh Slams Makers Of ‘The Kashmir Files’, Says ‘How Much Money Did They Give For The Welfare Of The Hindus..’

Asha Parekh Admitted That She Had Not Seen The Movie, But She Urged Those Who Are Supportive Of Its Message To Watch It.

In a recent interview, renowned actress Asha Parekh expressed her disapproval of the creators of the film ‘The Kashmir Files’ for their alleged failure to contribute a portion of their earnings and profits to support Hindus residing in Jammu and Kashmir.

During her conversation with News18, Asha Parekh admitted that she had not seen the movie, but she urged those who are supportive of its message to watch it. Reflecting on the film’s box office success and the controversies surrounding it, the 81-year-old actress questioned the film’s producers, stating, “People watched ‘The Kashmir Files.’ I will say something controversial here… the producers of the film made Rs 400 crore. From that, how much money did they give for the welfare of the Hindus living in Jammu and Kashmir? Those who don’t have water, electricity. How much money did the producer give to them?”

She went on to emphasize, “After distributing profits to all parties involved, the producers will still have their share. If they earned Rs 200 crore from the film’s Rs 400 crore earnings, they could have donated Rs 50 crore to assist those in need.”

It’s worth noting that the film was reportedly produced with a budget of nearly ₹25 crore and it grossed over Rs 340.92 crore worldwide. ‘The Kashmir Files’ emerged as the third highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2022.

‘The Kashmir Files,’ featuring Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty, and Pallavi Joshi in significant roles, narrates the story of the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley in the 1990s. The film was both directed and written by Vivek Agnihotri.

Production of the movie was overseen by Tej Narayan Agarwal, Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi, and Vivek Agnihotri.

Notably, the film received the National Film Award in the ‘Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration’ category. Additionally, actress Pallavi Joshi, Vivek Agnihotri’s wife, was honored with the prestigious award for her supporting role in ‘The Kashmir Files.’
