IPL 2020: Adam Zampa Named As Replacement For Kane Richardson In The RCB Squad

The official twitter handle to the Royal Challengers announced that Kane Richardson will be replaced by Adam Zampa for the IPL 2020. Richardson pulled out of the tournament to welcome his first child. Read below to know more.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore’s star player Kane Richardson has pulled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. As of now, Adam Zampa replaces Kane Richardson in the RCB squad for the tournament.

Kane Richardson will be missing out the tournament as he and his wife are expecting the birth of their child.

The official tweet read, “We are disappointed to not have Kane’s skills with us this IPL, as he was certainly on top of his game. However once we found out Kane and Nyki’s baby was due during the IPL, it’s an exciting time, and we were fully supportive of Kane wanting to be at the birth of their first child.”

RCB’s Director of Cricket, Mike Henson added that they took to the decision pertaining to the playing conditions. UAE pitches are spinner-friendly.

Adam Zampa will provide cover for India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. It will help RCB get extra options if the condition is suitable for a spin bowling attack.

The Aussie leg-spinner is a class player and he has definitely strengthened RCB’s spin attack. For the unversed, apart from Zampa and Chahal, RCb also has Washington Sundar who has bowl in spin conditions.

Some of RCB’s batsmen- Moel Ali, Pawan Negi, and the uncapped star player Shahbaz Ahmed can also come in handy.

Skipper Virat Kohli can use them during the tournament as spin bowlers as wel.

The IPL is all set to begin on September 19, 2020, in the UAE. The BCCI decided to move the money-spinning tournament to the UAE owing to the rise in COVID-19 cases in India.

IPL was slated to be played in Indian on March 29, 2020, but it was called off due to the lockdown.
