SS Rajamouli’s movie RRR is a global success. The film had a pan-India release in Jan 2022 and broke several box office records. Recently, RRR song ‘Naatu Naatu’ won Critics Choice Award and Golden Globe Award in the ‘Best Song’ category. RRR even won the Critics Choice Awards in ‘Best Foreign Language Film’ category. Now all eyes are on Oscars where RRR has been shortlisted in several categories. With this global success, people often wonder if there will be a sequel to the film. “Will there be RRR 2?”, people have been asking this question for quite some time.
Last year, during the 1000cr box office press meet, SS Rajamouli, Ram Charan and Jr NTR were asked about the possibility of RRR sequel.
Jr NTR replied to the journalist, “I’m pretty sure that if he (SS Rajamouli) doesn’t make RRR 2, you are gonna kill him for sure. He needs to make RRR 2. There needs to be a conclusion to this also. I was talking to one of the journalists, and I don’t know how I said it, but I said ‘RRR franchise’. So, hopefully it becomes true and he should make RRR 2.”
Ram Charan added, “I am firstly so happy and glad that I had one release post Covid. Of course we’ll be so delighted again if Rajamouli sir thinks of RRR 2.”
Pointing towards SS Rajamouli, Jr NTR said to the journalist, “We are already ready. You should ask Rajamouli sir. If he calls us for shooting tomorrow, we’ll go.”
The ace filmmaker didn’t kick out the possibility of RRR 2. He instead gave positive hints and said, “They got out of RRR pretty quickly. I am still trying to cool off from the heat generated by RRR 1. Let it cool down. For me, it would be a great pleasure not because of RRR’s performance at box office but because I’ll have more time to spend with my brothers (Jr NTR and Ram Charan). That will be more exciting for me. Let time unravel what will happen.”
