Lagaan And Jodhaa Akbar’s Art Director Nitin Desai Dies By Suicide

Art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai, who is renowned for his work in Bollywood and Marathi cinema, was found dead at his N.D. Studio in Karjat.

Director Nitin Desai Dies By Suicide: Art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai, who has been renowned for his work in Bollywood and Marathi cinema, was found dead at his N.D. Studio in Karjat.

If reports are to be believed, he hanged himself to death at his ND Studio, located in Karjat, Maharashtra, on Wednesday morning. It’s sad to say that the shocking piece of news came days before his birthday, as he would’ve turned 58. 

Although the police have not disclosed additional information about the reason for his death, initial reports suggest that he might have taken his own life. The police have reached the location to conduct a more thorough investigation.

To note, Nitin Desai has worked on numerous Bollywood and Marathi films, including historical epics and period dramas. Some of his notable works include Lagaan (2001),  Jodhaa Akbar (2008), Devdas (2002), Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela (2013), Bajirao Mastani (2015), and Panipat (2019), among others.

His remarkable work has been recognised with several awards and accolades in the Indian film industry. He has received the National Film Award for Best Art Direction for his work in the Marathi hit film Jogwa (2009).

In addition to his work in films, the late art director has also made significant contributions to Indian television. He has designed sets for various historical and mythological TV shows, adding to their visual appeal.
