Former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev, who brought glory to the country by winning the first world cup title in 1983 has turned 63 today. He is the first Indian captain to win the Cricket World Cup and is still the youngest captain (at the age of 24) to win the World Cup for any team.
His historic achievement was recently portrayed on-screen by director Kabir Khan in the film 83. Actor Ranveer Singh played Kapil Dev’s role and left everyone spell-bound with his look and performance.
To get into Kapil Dev’s character, Ranveer spent a lot of time with him. From his body language to bowling tricks, Ranveer learned it all from the legend himself. And eventually, the two became good friends.
On Kapil Dev’s birthday, Ranveer has penned a sweet wish for him on Instagram. Sharing a picture with him from the making of 83, Ranveer wrote, “Happy birthday to the original Sakht Jaan @therealkapildev what an honour it’s been embodying your champion spirit on screen!”

While the film received rave reviews from critics and fans, it failed to do wonders at the box office. 83 will soon be available on an OTT platform.
