Bollywood veteran actor Hema Malini has ruled the industry with her charming looks, exceptional dancing skills, and versatile performances. From her professional life to her personal life, she never shies away from talking about her experiences and taking a trip down memory lane. Her career includes one of the most hyped films, Baghban, with Amitabh Bachchan in 2003, but there were rumours that her husband Dharmendra had never watched that film yet because he was jealous of her chemistry with Amitabh. Now the actress talked about the same, why he hasn’t watched that film.
In an exclusive interview with Lehren, Hema Malini looks back at her journey. Sharing one of the incidents when she was asked by the interviewer, Bharthi S. Pradhan, if the rumours were true that Dharmendra still refused to watch her film Baghban because of the onscreen chemistry she shared with Amitabh Bachchan. Reacting to the question, Hema laughed and said, “I don’t know about that.”
In the same interview, Hema recalled when BR Chopra and Ravi Chopra came to her with the film narration, and she was reluctant to play the role. She also revealed who convinced her to finally sign the film. She said, “I remember when I was hearing the story from Ravi Chopra, my mother was sitting. Then after he left, I said, he’s asking me to play the role of a mother of four such big boys. She said, “No, No, you must do it.” I asked why! She said that the story was very good. She was after me. So I said that okay I’ll do it.
It was Hema Malini’s mother who convinced her for Baghban. Hema said, “Before that, I wasn’t doing many films. So, after a long gap I was working. So, I felt why should I do this. But she convinced me saying that the role is very nice.”
Hema also revealed that her Guru Maa predicted that Baghban will be a huge hit. She revealed that her Guru Maa had said, “You are getting a very nice role as a mother. It will be very big hit.”
