Vijay Deverakonda Recalls His Struggle: “Came To Mumbai In Sleeper Bus And…”

During a promotional event for 'Liger' in Mumbai, Vijay Deverakonda recalled his days of struggle.

Vijay Deverakonda is one of the rarest people who came from a non-filmy background and made it big in the Indian film industry. Born in a poor family in Hyderabad, Vijay has seen financial struggle since the beginning. However, he dreamt big for himself and decided to become an actor. After giving countless auditions and facing rejections on a regular basis, Vijay finally got a break in 2011. He made his debut with Telugu romantic comedy film Nuvvila. The game changed for Vijay when his 2017 film Arjun Reddy became a blockbuster. 2018 was even a better year when Mahanati, Taxiwaala and Geetha Govindam, all of his films became the highest-grossing Telugu films of 2018.

The actor is now gearing up for his next film Liger. This pan-India film marks his entry into Bollywood. The actor is currently in Mumbai to promote Liger. On Sunday, he, along with his co-star Ananya Panday visited a mall in Navi Mumbai where he interacted with his fans. As he took over the stage, he introduced himself by saying, “My name is Vijay Deverakonda. For those who don’t know, no problem! I’ll say it again. My name is Vijay Deverakonda. Look at me properly because you are going to see this face and hear this name very often.”

Vijay got nostalgic and recalled his days of struggle. He said, “I came to Mumbai eight years ago in a sleeper bus. It was the first time when I came to Mumbai. I stayed here for two days and then I went back. Eight years later, I am here again and I have been getting so much love. Thank You, Mumbai. I love you.”

Vijay Deverakonda’s upcoming movie Liger is directed by Puri Jagannadh and backed by Karan Johar. It has been shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu. Liger will hit the screens on August 25. After Liger, his next releases include Kushi and Jana Gana Mana.
