After creating global phenomenon, S.S Rajamouli’s blockbuster hit RRR has added another feather to its cap. The historical action drama has won the award for ‘Best Original Song’ at the 80th Golden Globes which is currently being held in Beverly Hills, California on Wednesday. ‘Naatu Naatu’ song which has been composed by M.M. Keeravaani, becomes the first Indian song to win the prestigious award.
In his acceptance speech the music composer thanked the film’s director S.S Rajamouli, male leads- Jr. NTR and Ram Charan and other technicians who worked on this song.
RRR was also nominated for Best Picture non-English language category. The film has already created numerous box office records and has made over Rs. 1200 crores at global box office and has also bagged slew of awards at various International film festivals. The film has been adjudged the ‘Best International Feature’ at the Sunset Circle Awards 2022. It has also bagged two international awards- the Best International Picture at the 2022 Atlanta Film Critics Circle Awards and this year’s Hollywood Critics’ Association’s Spotlight Award.
Set in 1920’s British occupied India, RRR tells the fictional tale of Indian freedom fighters Komuram Bheem and Aluri Sitarama Raju who fought against Britishers. Along with the two male leads, the period action drama boasts an ensemble cast including Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran and Hollywood artists Ray Stevenson, Alision Doody and Olivia Morris.
