In a recent final episode of 2024 radio show Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Honoured legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao who is fondly known as ANR. In the episode, he praised ANR’s immense contrition to Indian cinema and highlighting his role in showcasing Indian traditions and values through his countless films which went on to become timeless classics. Also, which all played significant part in elevating Telugu cinema to greater heights. PM Narendra Modi honours ANR as part of the centenary celebrations of cinema legends, also mentioning Raj Kapoor, Mohammed Rafi and Tapan Sinha.
Coming heartfelt praises from the renowned leader like Narendra Modi, overwhelmed Akkineni family expressed their gratitude via social media. Actor Akkineni Nagarjuna expressed profound thanks to the Prime Minister for acknowledging his father’s artistic legacy. Sharing a video clip on X (formerly Twitter) Nagarjuna wrote, “Thank you, Hon’ble Prime Minister shri @narendramodi ji, for honoring my father, ANR Garu, on his centenary year alongside such iconic legends. 🙏 His vision and contributions to Indian cinema continue to inspire generations, and this recognition means the world to our family and countless admirers of his work💐”

The newlywed Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala also joined in thanking the Mr Modi. The actress shared an Instagram post featuring a photo of ANR and PM Modi, expressing her gratitude for the acknowledgement of iconic Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s efforts in shaping Telugu cinema. Her post read, “It is truly special coming from a stalwart like you! Immensely grateful.” Naga Chaitanya then shared this same post of his wife on his Instagram story.
Akkineni Nageswara Rao is considered as a pioneer of Telugu Film Industry and a towering figure in Indian cinema, was celebrated this year with a commemorative stamp by the Government of India and a special retrospective screening at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa. Known for timeless classics that continues to top the list of best films includes Mayabazar, Devadasu, Vipra Narayana, Gudamma Katha, Mooga Manasulu, Premabhishekam, Manam, and many more. The actor’s great contributions earned him national honours like Padma Vibhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
