In recent times South Indian movies are doing wonders at the box office while Bollywood movies are struggling to gain popularity. With this scenario in the Indian cinema, the forever debate on South vs Bollywood has come to highlight. Many film fraternity people shared their views on the topic and the new one lending thoughts on the subject is HIT director Sailesh Kolanu.

He is popularly known for HIT: The first Case which was released in 2020. Sailesh is now coming up with a Hindi remake of his own film. The Hindi version of HIT stars Rajkumar Rao and Sanya Malhotra. The global success of Pushpa, KGF 2, and RRR has acted as fuel to the fire of the South vs Bollywood debate. The director who himself is remaking his Telugu film in Hindi opened up on the very famous issue in the industry.

Sailesh said: “I don’t think every South has worked. Not every South film has worked well here. The films that were a hit here had quality and were also made on a big scale. They had a universal emotion and that’s why they could cross the language barrier. In the last six-seven months, there have been a lot of South films released of which we don’t even know the names of. There are many films which won’t work even if they’re dubbed, but some do.”

He further added, “Likewise, HIT cannot be dubbed. If it is dubbed, only 30-40 per cent of my vision will reach you. It is an informative thriller. There are a lot of plot points which are based only on communication. If you watch it with subtitles or in dubbed, you won’t see my vision. Some movies will have to be recreated in that case.”

HIT: The First Case stars Rajkumar Rao and Sanya Malhotra in the Hindi remake. The film will hit the theaters on 15th July 2022. Rajkumar Rao’s movie will clash with Taapsee Pannu’s Shabaash Mithu.
