Ram Charan’s latest film Game Changer marked his return as a solo lead after six years which caused significant excitement among fans. The political drama directed by S. Shankar features Ram Charan in a triple role and opened to mixed reviews. Despite this, the Game Changer first weekend collection reveals the film’s determination to leave a mark at the box office.
‘Game Changer’ first weekend collection
Game Changer hit theaters on January 10, 2025 and earned ₹51.25 crore nett across all languages in India on its opening day. Globally, the film raked in ₹186 crore as per the official social media announcement. On its second day, the film saw a dip earning ₹21.05 crore nett, bringing the total to ₹72.5 crore in two days. Sunday collections fell further to ₹17 crore, resulting in a first-weekend total of ₹89.6 crore nett in India.
Breaking down the numbers, the Telugu version contributed ₹61.75 crore while the Hindi version brought in ₹22.5 crore. The Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi versions collectively added ₹5.35 crore to the total. Globally, the film has crossed the ₹200 crore mark. However, with a massive production budget of ₹450 crore, seems Game Changer has a long way to go to achieve profitability.
The film’s occupancy rates on Sunday highlight a lukewarm response with Telugu shows logging 29.01% and Hindi shows at 22.51%. Meanwhile, Tamil shows recorded 19.36% occupancy reflecting the overall mixed reception.
Game Changer which stars Kiara Advani, SJ Suryah and others in pivotal roles, focuses on an IAS officer’s fight against political corruption. Competing with Pushpa 2 and Fateh, the film’s journey will depend on sustaining its momentum in the coming weeks.
