Jani Master, a well-known choreographer in the Telugu film industry, is set to appear in court today as he faces serious allegations, as reported by Telugu360. A 21-year-old assistant has accused him of repeatedly assaulting her during their work together. This situation escalated when Hyderabad police tracked down Jani Master after he went into hiding, leading to his arrest in Goa.
The case has gained attention, especially following the release of the Hema Committee Report last month. This report exposed issues of workplace harassment within the Malayalam film industry and encouraged others in different regions to come forward with their own experiences. The assistant’s claims against Jani Master have intensified the discussion around such abuses in the film sector.
As part of the response to these allegations, the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) announced on September 17 that the choreographer will be temporarily suspended from his role as president of the Telugu Film and TV Dancers and Dance Directors Association (TFTDDA). This suspension aims to prevent him from exerting any influence over the investigation or the victim.
The FIR against the choreographer was filed on September 11 at the Raidurgam police station. However, the case has now been transferred to the Narsingi police station, where the victim resides.
As Jani Master will face court proceedings today, the outcome remains to be seen. The case highlights ongoing issues of safety and accountability in the entertainment industry, calling for greater awareness and protective measures for workers.
