After Liger’s Failure, Vijay Deverakonda’s Next Film Gets Shelved

Vijay Deverakonda and Puri Jagannadh's next film gets cancelled after the box office failure of Liger.

Vijay Deverakonda’s latest film Liger tanked at the box office. The film was heavily promoted across several Indian states as it also marked Vijay’s Bollywood debut. Neither the month-long promotions nor Vijay’s chiselled body could save the film. As per trade sources, the film earned Rs 35 crore across India in its opening weekend, which is a disappointing number, keeping in mind the film’s scale. After Liger’s shameful failure, Vijay Deverakonda’s next film has been shelved.

Much before the release of Liger, it was announced that actor Vijay Deverakonda and director Puri Jagannadh will reunite for another action film, titled Jana Gana Mana. Vijay was supposed to play the role of a soldier. The movie announcement was done in a grand manner as Vijay wore olive green and made a swaggy entry in a chopper. While fans were initially excited for this film, they are now happy with the decision of this film getting shelved.

As Hindustan Times reported that Jana Gana Mana has been shelved for an indefinite time, an Internet user said, “Good decision by @TheDeverakonda. Jana Gana Mana dropped.”

Another fan wrote,  “Doing Arjun Reddy was the second best decision in Vijay Deverakonda’s career, rejecting this film was the first.”

Meanwhile, Vijay will now resume shooting for his upcoming Telugu romantic drama film Kushi, co-starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
