Suriya Didn’t Want To Play Rolex In Vikram? Reveals Why He Said Yes

Suriya addressed a Rolex spinoff report and why he accepted the role in Kamal Haasan’s Vikram

Suriya played a cameo in Kamal Haasan’s movie Vikram. His character Rolex was widely celebrated by audiences and was one of the highlights of the movie. There were possible reports of him doing a movie exclusively based on his character as crime lord Rolex in Vikram. However, Suriya refuted these reports and also revealed why took up the role. 

The South superstar revealed he had almost turned down the offer to play a cameo in Vikram but later he agreed because of Kamal Haasan. Initially, he wasn’t keen to play Rolex but didn’t let go of the opportunity offered by Kamal Haasan. He credits to the megastar for what he is today. 

Suriya won the best actor award for Soorarai Pottru at the Filmfare Awards 2022 South. When he walked to the stage to receive the award audience chanted Rolex. A possible Rolex spinoff surfaced on the internet after the release of Vikram. Hence, the host of the event, actor Ramesh Arvind questioned Suriya about Rolex’s return. To this, he replied, ‘I think time will answer. If it comes, I will do it”.

Suriya further spoke of how he bagged the highly loved role and what made him to take it up. He said, “Whatever I’m today, no matter what I’m doing in life, Kamal sir would’ve always been my inspiration. When he called and said there’s an opportunity, I didn’t want to let go of it. I want to share this with everyone. Whenever you’re scared, that’s when you want to jump. It was a last minute decision. I was going to call and tell Lokesh, I won’t do it. But I did it for one man.”

The action thriller Vikram is written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Raaj Kamal Films International. The film also stars Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil. It earned 440 crores at the worldwide box office collection.
