R Madhavan’s movie ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ has been running strong at the box office. The film, which had an average opening on Day 1 gained a decent crowd on the first weekend due to word-of-mouth publicity. The film has completed one week of its release. It has not only managed to maintain good numbers but is also raking appreciation from people around the world.

R Madhavan’s ‘Rocketry’ has been doing exceptionally well at the box office. If we compare the film to Ayushmann Khurrana’s ‘Anek’, Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Dhaakad’ or Akshay Kumar’s ‘Samrat Prithviraj’, ‘Rocketry’ has been a winner. Even during the weekdays, it has witnessed a constant jump in its collection.

The film earned Rs 1.73 crores on the first day and surprised everyone by recording Rs 2.97 crores on the second day of its release. On the first Sunday, that is on Day 3, it raked Rs 3.75 crore. During the weekdays, the film maintained its pace and collected over Rs 1 crore each day. The net collection of the first week of the film has been around Rs 13.79 crore. We can now expect the film to cross the Rs 20 crore mark this weekend.

Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is a biographical drama film based on former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan. The accomplished rocket scientist, who rejected a lucrative offer from NASA in order to join ISRO and serve the nation, was framed in a fake espionage case and was even arrested and tortured. The film showcases his accomplishments followed by lifelong hardships after his arrest on false charges.

The film is written, directed and produced by R Madhavan. He also plays the lead role of Nambi Narayanan. South actress Simran plays his on-screen wife. Shah Rukh Khan and Suriya make cameo appearances in Hindi and Tamil versions of the film respectively.

‘Rocketry’ has been simultaneously shot and released in Hindi, Tamil and English. It was released in theatres on July 1.
