In a shocking turn of events, Nayanthara has addressed her ongoing legal conflict with actor Dhanush. The actress recently penned an open letter criticizing Dhanush for refusing permission to use clips from their 2015 film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in her upcoming Netflix documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale. In the letter, Nayanthara accused Dhanush of harbouring personal grievances against her and her husband, director Vignesh Shivan, who helmed the film.
The controversy began when Dhanush sent a legal notice to Nayanthara, demanding Rs 10 crore for using portions of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. Nayanthara claimed Dhanush’s refusal stemmed from personal issues rather than business considerations. She criticized his actions, calling them vindictive and pointing out inconsistencies between his public persona and private decisions. In her letter, she urged Dhanush to reflect on his behavior, concluding with a sharp invocation of his popular phrase, “Om Namah Shivaya”.
Amid this uproar, an old video of Nayanthara’s Filmfare acceptance speech for Naanum Rowdy Dhaan has resurfaced online. In the 2016 clip, Nayanthara, while receiving the Best Actress award from actor Khushbu Sundar, publicly apologized to Dhanush. She said, “Thank you, Dhanush, for initiating NRD. I have to say I’m sorry too. Dhanush absolutely hated my performance in Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. Sorry, Dhanush, for disappointing you with my performance. I’ll probably make it better next time.” This moment has reignited discussions about the actress’s relationship with Dhanush.
While Dhanush has not yet commented on the letter, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale which delves into Nayanthara’s personal and professional life, remains a highly anticipated project on Netflix.
