Nayanthara has sparked conversations with a cryptic Instagram story seemingly hinting at her ongoing legal battle with actor Dhanush. On Friday, actress Nayanthara pointed out that “Karma Says!! When you destroy someone’s life with lies, take it as a loan, it will come back to you with interest.” The phrase “take it as a loan” was notably highlighted with a green line, drawing attention from fans.
This comes after Dhanush filed a lawsuit against Nayanthara including her husband Vignesh Shivan and Netflix, alleging unauthorized use of behind-the-scenes footage from the 2015 movie Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in the documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale, taking to Madras High Court.
Soon after the lawsuit was filed in the Madras High Court, they alleged copyright infringement by Nayanthara and her team. Dhanush’s legal notice demands that the contentious clips be removed from the documentary, threatening a Rs. 10 crore lawsuit if they fail to comply. The notice argues that Wunderbar Films, Dhanush’s production company owns the rights to the footage in question.

In her defence, Nayanthara pointed out that the clips used were sourced from her personal camera which were shot on her phone and were not officially owned by the production house. She also shared that her team spent two years attempting to ask Dhanush’s approval, only to proceed with the footage after failing to secure a No Objection Certificate.
Reacting to the legal notice, Nayanthara earlier expressed her disappointment calling the demand for damages over a three-second clip “an all-time low”. She told Dhanush, “I wish you were half the person you portray to be on stage in front of your fans, but clearly, you do not practice what you preach.”
As per Nayanthara’s lawyer, Rahul Dhawan, the material used in the documentary does not infringe upon any copyright laws. The next hearing is scheduled for Monday where further clarifications are expected.
