The shoot of a long pending action thriller titled Indian 2 will resume on Wednesday. Yes, it’s official, Kamal Haasan is back as Senapathy with double the firepower in Indian 2. The film will resume shooting today i.e. 24th August after two years halt. Lyca Productions and director Shankar Shanmughan released a new poster of the film ending all the rumors stating Indian 2 is being shelved.
The massive update for Kamal Haasan fans is here as the sequel of Indian is in making after 26 years. Indian 2 is back on the floors after the project was put on the back burner. Kamal, who was last seen in Vikram, will join the sets from the first week of September. Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies joined in as one of the producers along with Lyca Productions.
A new poster of Indian 2 has been released by the makers featuring Kamal Haasan as an old vigilante with the tag line “He is Back”. The veteran actor returns as his character of Senapathy from the 1996 film Indian. Unveiling the new poster and announcing the shoot on Twitter director Shankar wrote, “Good morning Indians, we are glad to announce that the remaining shoot for Indian 2 is commencing today! Need all of your support and wishes.”
The shoot was halted abruptly in 2020 after a crane collapsed on the set during the filming. This incident happened near Chennai leaving 3 dead and 10 injured. The movie also saw delays due to the Covid 19 global pandemic. However, it is a piece of great news that the highly-anticipated action thriller Indian 2 is back on track.
Indian featured Kamal Haasan as Senapathy, Manisha Koirala, and Urmila Matondkar in lead roles. The sequel of the film will replace the female leads of the first chapter with Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet Singh. Alongside Haasan, it will also star Bobby Simha and Priya Bhavani Shankar in pivotal roles.
Udayanidhi Stalin of Red Giant Movies got on board to bankroll Indian 2 in partnership with Lyca Productions. The action thriller is helmed by director S Shankar with Ravi Varman as the cinematographer and Anirudh Ravichander as the music director.
