The entertainment industry has been buzzing with the controversy after actress Nayanthara alleged that Tamil star Dhanush demanded ₹10 crore for using a 3-second clip from his produced film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan (2015) in her documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale. The dispute escalated when Nayanthara posted three-page long open letter on social media, calling out the actor and even mentioning his father Kasthuri Raja and his brother. Amid this heat up, Dhanush’s father finally responded to her allegations.
Now, in response to Nayanthara’s allegations, Dhanush’s father addressed her claims in the recent interview, as per a report published in The Times of India‘s Samayan portal. The veteran filmmaker dismissed all the claims that she had been chasing Dhanush for two years to get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to use the clip.
Speaking in Tamil, Kasthuri Raja said, “Work is important to us. We are running ahead. There is no time to answer those who chase us or those who talk about us behind our backs. Like me, my son is focused only on work. As Nayanthara said, waiting for two years is not true information. I don’t want to talk about it.”

Earlier to this, Dhanush’s legal team also released a detailed statement, defending his client’s decision to withhold permission. The notice clarified that the behind-the-scenes footage of the film was never officially commissioned and Nayanthara’s claims were termed ‘baseless’. It also shared that the financial details of the production were transparent and accounted for.
Dhanush has given them 24 hours to remove the contents of NRD movie from the documentary. If not, then #Nayanthara, @VigneshShivN and @NetflixIndia will have to face legal actions, and will also be subjected to a 10cr damage pay.

Nayanthara alleged that Dhanush’s refusal to grant the NOC was rooted in personal differences rather than professional concerns. She expressed frustration over the disruption this caused to her documentary, calling out Dhanush’s “double standards”.
