After foraying into cricket, Irfan Pathan is all set to try his luck on the silver screen. The cricketer will mark his film debut with a Tamil film. Announcing about the same he wrote on his social media “New venture,new challenge looking forward to it”.
The movie will be directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu who has directed films like Demonte Colony, Imaikkaa Nodigal in the past.
The film is tentatively titled as Chiyaan Vikram 58. Priya Bhavani Shankar has been finalized as the leading lady of the film. Pathan hasn’t played an international match since 2012. He last wore the international jersey during a Twenty20 International (T20I) match against Sri Lanka on October 2, 2012.
While talking about the film Irfan said “When the director approached me, my first question was, ‘Why me?’. He explained that the role suited me perfectly and that they were keen on casting me, It took me a little time to make up my mind. And once I was convinced, I gave a go ahead. I have never acted in a film before, so yeah, it is a new challenge.”
“I am really excited… It won’t affect my other commitments either,” Irfan said, adding that he will have to shoot in Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata and abroad. “That’s the plan as of now,” he added.
