A complaint lodged against Rajnikanth for spreading 'false news'

The president of Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam has filed a complaint against the actor, Rajinikanth, as he said during an event that the idols of God Ram and Sita were paraded in an insulting way.

Kolathur Mani has filed a complaint against Kollywood superstar Rajinikanth for making false claims about social reformer Periyar. Rajinikanth allegedly said during an event of his last film Darbar that during a rally hosted by Periyar EVR in 1971, idols of Lord Rama and Sita were paraded offensively in Tamil Nadu's Salem. Rajini's claims were false according to Mani, who is the president of Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam.

Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam, a splinter group of the Dravidar Kazhagam, had complained while Rajinikanth had requested a public apology. The FIR has been filed under Indian Penal Code Section 153 (Promoting Enmity between Different Groups) and Section 505 (Statements conducting Public Mischief).

Darbar, directed by AR Murugadoss, also has important roles in Nayanthara, Nivetha Thomas, Suniel Shetty, and Yogi Babu. Rajinikanth played a police officer role in the movie and the music was scored by Anirudh Ravichander while the camera was cranked by Santhosh Shivan. The filmmakers have reportedly filed a complaint against a local cable television provider in Madurai for airing Darbar's pirated version on their TV channel.

Rajinikanth, whereas, is currently busy shooting his upcoming film, tentatively titled Thalaivar 168. The film is produced by Sun Pictures and is directed by Siruthai Siva. The movie also plays key roles with Khushbu, Meena, Prakash Raj, Keerthy Suresh, Sathish, Soori. At present, in Hyderabad Ramoji Film City, Thalaivar 168 is being shot at a brisk pace.
