"Working Together For Kanguva": Suriya shares how 2000-3000 people united to bring his epic film to life.

The upcoming Tamil movie Kanguva, starring Suriya is shaping up to be a cinematic spectacle with a never-seen-before storyline in the regional content, following a tribal warrior’s quest to protect his people. But it’s not just the story that’s impressive – the scale of production is astounding to know, with around 2000-3000 people working together for Kanguva every day. In a recent interview with Mashable India, Suriya shed light on the massive efforts behind bringing this ambitious project to life.

Suriya described the behind-the-scenes atmosphere as intense with thousands of cast and crew on set each day. “We’ve pushed a little bit, a little out of our comfort zone. We’ve never tried something like this before. Not only in the number of days of shooting but in making sure every frame was unique,” Suriya explained. With around 2000-3000 people involved daily, the scale is something rarely seen, even in Indian cinema.

Unlike many big-budget films that rely heavily on visual effects, Kanguva made sure to put in authentic settings and scenes. Suriya noted that while they used some VFX, the majority of the crowd scenes involved real people. “Yes, we multiplied but still we had 2000-3000 people working,” he shared, explaining the production team’s commitment to realistic portrayals. He further added about how each day, thousands of junior artists, stunt performers and crew members showed up on set, often as early as 3 a.m., prepared for hours of work and makeup to create the vast, lively scenes.
