KGF: Chapter 2 has opened to a remarkable response from the audience. Rocking star Yash starrer action film has brought a tsunami at the ticket windows. On the first day of its release, the film created history at the box office and has given a tough fight to SS Rajamouli’s latest film ‘RRR’.
KGF 2 has beaten RRR in the northern belt by collecting Rs 53.95 cr while RRR had recorded only Rs 25 crore from Hindi screens on the first day of release. KGF 2 not only overtook RRR but also Hindi films like Hrithik Roshan’s War, which collected Rs 51.60 crore at the box office, followed by Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan, which earned Rs 50.75 crore.
Taran Adarsh tweeted, “KGF2’ CREATES HISTORY, BIGGEST DAY 1 TOTAL… #KGF2 has demolished opening day records of #War and #ThugsOfHindostan… #KGFChapter2 is now BIGGEST OPENER in #India [#Hindi version].”
Talking about the gross domestic collections, KGF: Chapter 2 collected a total of Rs 134.50 cr in India. RRR emerges as a winner here as it recorded Rs 156 cr on Day 1 in India.
The competition is tough but it will be interesting to watch the two mega-regional films competing against each other to become all-time high grosser.
KGF: Chapter 2 was released in theatres on the 14th of April. It features Yash, Srinidhi Shetty, Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon. The film is directed by Prashanth Neel.
Talking about RRR, the period action drama is directed by SS Rajamouli. It stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan in leading roles with Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt in extended cameos.
