Darshan Admits Paying 40 Lakh To Destroy Evidence In Renuka Swamy Murder Case

Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa reportedly borrowed Rs 40 lakh to facilitate the destruction of evidence in Renuka Swamy's murder case.

In a significant update regarding the Renuka Swamy murder case, Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa reportedly borrowed Rs 40 lakh to facilitate the destruction of evidence. According to India Today, Darshan disclosed to Karnataka police that he borrowed the amount from a friend. He admitted to using Rs 30 lakh of it to pay off other individuals to surrender, as part of ongoing investigations.

Days earlier, police sources disclosed that the actor allegedly offered three men Rs 15 lakh each to confess to Renuka Swamy’s murder, as per NDTV reports.

Darshan is under investigation in connection with the Renuka Swamy murder case. Swamy, formerly employed at an Apollo Pharmacy branch in Chitradurga, was found dead in Bengaluru on June 8, 2024.

Allegations suggest that Renuka sent inappropriate messages to Kannada actress Pavithra Gowda, a friend of Darshan. Angered by this, Renuka Swamy was killed, and his body was reportedly disposed of in a canal in Kamaksshipalya, Bengaluru, allegedly in Darshan’s presence.

Earlier, Karnataka police officials alleged that Darshan and his associates assaulted Renuka Swamy with sticks and threw him against a wall, resulting in his death. According to reports, eight of the accused have accused Darshan of being present during Renuka Swamy’s assault. The Kannada actor was arrested on June 11th.
