UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson tested coronavirus positive, Downing Street said on Friday in a statement on its website.

He was tested for coronavirus after experiencing severe symptoms yesterday, on the personal advice of the Chief Medical Officer of England, Professor Chris Whitty.

Prime Minister Boris took to Twitter to confirm the news and spread awareness about the same. He wrote ,

“Over the last 24 hours, I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus.

I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus.

Together we will beat this. #StayHomeSaveLives”
