Donald Trump Is Taking A Pill Of Hydroxychloroquine Everyday Despite FDA Warning

In a recent media interaction, US President Donald Trump confessed that he is taking a pill of Hydroxychloroquine every day.

US President Donald Trump recently announced that he is taking a pill of Hydroxychloroquine every day as a preventive medicine against Coronavirus despite medical warnings by FDA. He said, “I’m taking hydroxychloroquine. I’ve been taking it for the last week and a half. A pill every day.”

Hydroxychloroquine is a drug traditionally used in the treatment of malaria, rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. Though it has not been proven effective to prevent Covid-19, Trump had promoted the drug as a potential treatment based on a positive report about its use against the virus, but subsequent studies found that it was not helpful. Even, the Food and Drug Administration has issued a warning about its use, but Trump doesn’t seem to care much. The drug can sometimes have severe side effects, including arrythmia, which can be fatal.

During an interaction with media reporters, Trump said, “You’d be surprised at how many people are taking it, especially the front-line workers before you catch it. The front-line workers — many, many are taking it. I happen to be taking it. I happen to be taking it.”

Talking further about the drug, he said, “I’ve heard a lot of good stories. And if it is not good, I will tell you right. I’m not going to get hurt by it. It has been around for 40 years for malaria, for lupus, for other things. I take it.”

73-year-old Trump is tested positive for Coronavirus daily. Two weeks ago, one of his support staff had tested positive. White House physician Sean Conley said in a memo that Trump was in “very good health” and had been receiving regular COVID-19 testing, which has all been negative.

India is the major contributor of Hydroxychloroquine as it manufactures 705 of the world’s total produce. A few weeks ago India had sent shipments of the drug to the U.S., days after Mr. Trump had asked India to lift a ban on the drug’s export. The U.S. has, according to Mr. Trump, stockpiled more than 29 million doses of HCQ.
